What is PE and Sports premium?
The government has provided funding of £150 million per annum since the academic year 2013/14 with a view to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and sees the money going directly to Primary School Head-teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their pupils. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
How will the funding be spent?
At Heptonstall, we have developed an action plan to ensure that the money is spent on initiatives which will have a long-lasting impact on the future learning and physical development of children within our school.
We have invested in a new scheme of work – PE planning – that it is always being updated and added to so we can improve our children’s fundamental movement skills (agility, balance, and co-ordination) as well as sport specific skills.
Our vision
To provide children with a wide range of opportunities and resources to lead an active lifestyle to support our school ethos.
